Hero

One of my heros, Lance Armstrong, I got to shake hands with today and tell him what an honor it was for me to meet him.
Not only is he an exceptional athlete, but also incredibly inspirational and influential in his work supporting cancer research and emphasizing the importance of prevention. The book he signed today starts with this statement:

"For me, living life to the fullest is a lot about testing myself: accepting challenges, training hard, and then going for it."

It's good to be reminded that there are people who share my feelings on challenges, especially when they seem to be getting a bit overwhelming. There is nothing like looking through his book then, and reminding myself that not even a collarbone broken in a few places and a 12 screws to hold it together could stop this man from riding in the Giro a month and then the Tour just 3 months later.
