And she realizes that love doesn't go in straight lines, it doesn't care about right or wrong or about being a good person or even about making you happy; and she sees, like in a vision, that life and the future are going to be way more complicated than she ever expected, impossibly, unbearlably complicated and difficult. In the same moment she feels herself grow older, like she's finished a level in a video game and moved on invisibly to the next stage; it's a tiredness that takes over her body, a tiredness like nothing before, like she's swallowed a ton of weight...
~ Paul Murray: Skippy Dies
Beautiful quote I just read: about growing up, being in love - or thinking we are in love - having a broken heart and realizing the unbearable complexity or it all. It really is like swallowing a ton of weight making you more and more tired every time it happens. How much weight can one person carry around before it paralyzes them?

Depending on the person, an immense amount of weight. Truth in seeking, finding the answers, life's path, sounds good and positive, makes perfect sense, though it's what comes to us when the lights go off and we're alone, how we are emotionally, how we handle that journey that defines us. What we do with that weight. I've been shedding mine for nearly ten years, emotional weight is brutal. Hope is everlasting and personal. We need re-fueling of that hope, people to remind us, hints and signs, indications that hope is still possible and able to flourish again. You have great capacity for this weight, a will power to re-charge and take on the new year, the current NYC weather, and anything else that rears it's ugly head. Your ability to see the beauty throughout your daily life, identify in sadness, is profound. Take them and run. Escape however you can, find a peace, a zen, there you will find that spark in those eyes, and flame in the heart.
